Report on the Issues and Impacts of Water Scarcity in your country – for World Water Day 22 March 2007
With changes in climate and weather patterns, and an increasing world population, many people still do not have access to adequate quality water resulting in poor sanitation, poor health and diseases. Polluted water leads to degraded ecosystems and increasingly disputes between countries have a focus on water access. The facts are not encouraging http://www.un.org/waterforlifedecade/factsheet.html from the UN’s International Decade for Action, Water for Life 2005-2015. What are the Issues and Impacts of Water Scarcity in your country? Write your own report with a focus on either Issues or on Impacts. Include what you and your community can do or are already doing to help improve the situation and publish your report through Making the News. To submit your report, click on News and then Submit in the top menu and then click on Guest Entry to add your story. Look at the reports from other Science Across the World schools and give your comments on them. Are there any common issues, and how are different countries addressing them? After reading the other reports, do you now have any more ideas for actions that can help your local situation?
World Water Day on 22 March 2007 is part of the UN’s Decade on Water for Life 2005-2015 http://www.un.org/waterforlifedecade/ Why not also try our Drinking Water activity and the additional activities and send your Exchange Form to other Science Across the World schools in other countries?
