EMBO 3rd international teachers workshop, 21–22 May 2004, Heidelberg, Germany

Molecules in medicine; an update for the classroom

The European Molecular Biology Organization has organised its third International Teachers workshop, which will take place from 21-22 May at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg. The workshop is primarily for secondary school biology teachers from across the EU and Israel, but chemistry and physics teachers are also very welcome to participate. Priority will be given to teachers who haven't yet attended a Heidelberg EMBO teachers workshop.

The language of the workshop is English. Accommodation, meals and refreshments are covered by the organisers. Registration fee: 50 Euros.

The agenda of the workshop combines scientific talks from scientists at the forefront of research with practical experiments, and gives teachers the opportunity to witness the latest research being done in the laboratories of the EMBL, and browse an exhibition of teaching resources, media and experimental kits. Moreover, two sessions of the workshop are dedicated to discussions on the introduction of ethics issues into classroom teaching and on how to adapt and facilitate experiments to be used at school.
